Review: ***Wait there! If you haven't read Dead Girl Walking, reading this might spoil you.*** *I received a digital ARC of this book from GHBT in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. All are my own opinion and is not compensated by any individual, organization or company.
Forget Me Knot follows the story in Dead Girl Walking. Mara was saved from Death and is now facing the pressure of leading her Kingdom after her father died. Leila has new look after being drowned in her mission. Wynter is learning his new life as a dark angel.
Forget Me Knot really did step up the game for the Royal Reaper Series. I enjoyed this instalment more than the previous one.
1. ‘Enchanted Dagger’ Book Cover: I like the appearance of the dagger in the front cover. It gives off impression that this book would be filled more by action and there will be like major change in our lead characters life. I also personally like looking at daggers because it felt more fantastical for me. Haha! I didn’t particularly like the font, though.
2. Trucidators! : They are new entities introduced in this book or as far as I can remember! but only one made appearance. If people were to be marked by a trucidator, a dark angel is not allowed to intervene.
3. New Realm! : I get to see a new realm! The underworld—though it was not described well because the timeline in that setting is not really in for more extended hours lol!, it was refreshing to see something new in the story. I just hope that in the next book, Ruth Silver will let us see more the underworld!
4. OMG! The ending. : The ending seriously needs some explaining to do. I didn’t expect any of what happened at the ending and until now while typing this review, it still confuses me. But it’s not a bad thing because I actually liked what happened at the end.
Now, I dislike the:
1. uneven pacing : The pacing is dull at one point, I mostly skimmed those chapters and then became fast-paced without warning. It made me think it was rushed or something.
2. Predictability level : This has been predictable to me and it’s like everything is pretty obvious. Except, of course, the ending which is really unpredictable for me. I think the ending is the only part I haven’t predicted right.
3. Confusing writing style : The writing style is okay. There are just few parts where the author inserted flashback and I’m kinda lost out of reading. Though, flashbacks are in italics. Also, I still haven’t fully understand what’s a Royal Reaper is. I need more explanations.
Overall, this is pretty refreshing and decent read and a unique story that I’m sure lot of people will enjoy.
