Sometimes, love comes with a price…

The past is gonna try and bring you down, but you gotta fight. Fight hard for what you love. Fight to win is what twenty-two-year-old Dominick Anderson believes, but his life is a struggle. Growing up with an abusive father has made Dominick slow to love and trust, and here lies on his brother Kevin to keep him on a straight path. Dominick fights his demons every day, every night. Now a sophomore at the University of Washington and working a steady job at a mechanic’s shop, Dominick wants to create a better life and find the future his father never wanted him to have.

Dominick suppresses his identity and feelings until he meets Denise Ramsey. Smart, stunningly gorgeous, and sharing his love for motorcycles, Denise is everything Dominick longs for in a girl but knows he can never have. When a past love threatens her life and brings out Dominick’s dark side, he must decide if she’s worth the risk.

I received a digital ARC of this book from the author via NjKinny Tours and Promotions in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. Thanks for the copy! All are my own opinion and is not compensated by any individual, organization, or company. This might contain minor spoilers.

First, I want to say that I really like the book cover. It’s amazing. Seeing the cover will make you think of what the book is about. I initially thought, Denise will be like a motorcycle chick, hot and deadly—literally ‘deadly’. Heavens, was I wrong.

Scarred is about 22 year old Dominick who is still being shadowed by his past. He is a gentleman but a scared one. One faithful day, he met Denise while on his way of buying his best friend condoms. I know right, it’s hilarious. His best friend, Chris, is a very funny guy. Only if he doesn’t sleep around a dozen times a day, I would have a crush on him.

The book is narrated on Dom’s point of view, which I find great because it is good to know what runs inside a guy’s mind. But I expected to see more of action from Denise. I mean, I thought she will be like the Alpha woman in the story. Boy, I am really disappointed. I was really looking forward on it.

I’m not into insta-love so I really do not hundred percent buy how their feelings start towards each other. But I must say, I enjoyed reading their progression.

I can’t get enough with the characters, though. They are all unexpectedly fun.

Scarred has been very predictable, for me. So I was thinking of the best rating I could give. Just reading the first chapter I already had an idea on what completely happened in Dom’s past. Reading few chapters more, I already know my guess is a bull’s eye. More like, I already know what’s going to happen in the book. But since I enjoyed it all throughout, I’ll rate it with the best rating this book deserves.

I am totally excited with regards to the next book. I am already interested with Kevin from the first book so when I came to read the bonus excerpt of the next book, I am totally excited. Hope I get to read the next book!
